Input requested: Canada’s Eighth and Ninth Reports on the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women
Canada is a State Party to the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). As such, Canada is obligated to report on a periodic basis to the UN on its domestic implementation of the provisions of the Convention. The Government of Canada is beginning preparations for Canada’s combined eighth and ninth periodic reports on the CEDAW, which are due to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women in December 2014. View the draft report here.
At this time, the views of non-governmental organizations and Aboriginal organizations are being sought to identify any key issues that have not been included in the outline, prioritize the issues for inclusion in the report; and identify the key successes and challenges related to those priority issues.
